As previously mentioned, yuan is the unit of account, same as Japanese &quot;Yen&quot;, Korean &quot;Won&quot;, and Mexican &quot;peso&quot;.  Renminbi, on the other hand, translates into &quot;People&#039;s money&quot; or &quot;People&#039;s coin&quot;.</description>
